This is exactly what Cameron lamented. Date: 27/11/2015
Time: ??:??
Loud beeping echoes through the room.
Because I am highly trained in various emergency situations such as evacuating people and administering first aid, I identified that the extremely loud beeping is most likely the fire alarm above the bed I was sleeping in.
After confirming that neither the motel, nor Cameron or Jezmo had spontaneously caught on fire, I immediately attempt to disarm the alarm.
Unfortunately all attempts to stop it before it wakes Cameron and Jezmo are unsuccessful and it continues to be unresponsive until it stops itself.
I stared at the alarm briefly before looking around to find Cameron staring at me blankly on the other side of the room.
I sit down and go back to sleep. Date: 27/11/2015
Time: 10am~
I get out of bed and look around. Both Cameron and Jezmo are still sleeping. I decide to play around in training mode. I practise some combos for half an hour or so before I hear this noise. I look behind me. Cameron is silently watching me. I wonder to myself how long he'd been watching for.
I quickly exit training mode, slightly embarrassed that Cameron had been watching like a creeper the whole time and check my Facebook. Apparently they needed help with seeding, so I requested for Shitashi's computer and seeded half the bracket pools with Ghostbone. My ability to seed the pools was divine. I tried to put three Zero Suit Samus players into Cameron's pool, but he got mad at me. Unfortunately he was a first seed, so I couldn't put him in Kira's pool.
I finished the seeding and got a few others to check over it. No problems, Ghostbone seeded the first seeds horrendously so the main bracket would have to be seeded manually of course.
Googers apparently invited the Victorians over without telling us. Shitashi wants us to go get food, but Jezmo and Cameron are too lazy and I haven't had a shower yet.
"THIS IS ALL PART OF YOUR MASTER PLAN TO RUIN EVERYTHING ISN'T IT," Shitashi says.
It's too early in the morning to understand what Shitashi is trying to tell me, so I let him buy our food and bring it back to the motel while I shower.
In the shower I discover quickly that dragging everyone around to find a jumper for me to wear has gotten me sunburnt. The hot water stings as it touches my skin. I decide quickly that I've had enough of that so I exit the steamy shower, dry myself and put clothes on. I take my shirt of to show everyone my new tan. Shitashi comes back with food and then the Victorian's appear. Astra, Extra, Ignis and friends... Talking to people I didn't know was hard... But I tried to make an effort at least.
I played Astra in some friendlies. I knew Astra... from many years ago. Cameron and I used to play Brawl Wi-Fi on a website called MMGN with Astra. They were good times.
"Y'know," Astra says. "If you had told me years ago that I would be in a motel in South Australia playing Smash with Boozer and you, I would never have believed you."

The Perth players BT and Joel come over. BT was very loud.
Joel was someone I'd known for a while, previously called exmantika, the man stood significantly taller than I did. For the longest time Joel had helped me with my website and been an amazingly supportive guy. There was something about him that exuded charisma. The first time meeting Joel was kind of exciting.
"Can I have a hug, Joel?" I ask.
"Sure you can."
I hug him. Something about him made him adorably huggable.
He leaves the room and some time passes.
"I should play Etrian Odyssey 2!" Cameron exclaims.
Before SXC, I had promised to lend him the game of a series (Etrian Odyssey) I got him into a long time ago when we saw each other. There was a remake that was released but it hadn't been released in Australia at the time, so I'd given him the original to play.
I lean close to him shoulder to shoulder to watch him play. He starts my game to see where I got up to, before quitting and starting a new game. He names his characters after Googers, Jezmo, Shitashi, me and himself. While the others were all content playing Smash, I was content myself watching Cameron play Etrian Odyssey. I watched him as he played the early stages of the game. I knew how the game began, so I mention to him that the game generally likes to kick you in the nuts when you play it because of the absurd difficulty and unforgiving traps (especially compared to the later games of the series).
He immediately falls into the first trap of the game, picking the wrong choice because he was trying to mindgame the trap by picking the safer looking option.
He barely survives the trap and tries to leave the area, only to be cockblocked by the game again.
I sit closely next to him giggling away and enjoying it thoroughly as the game continues to wreck him. I know that he knows that I'm having more fun than I should be, but I hope to myself, secretly, that he never mentions it to me because that might be embarrassing.

Time: 9pm~
Rhyno had asked us what we were doing for dinner.
"McDonald's (dog)" I replied.
I knew Rhyno wouldn't have wanted McDonald's at all but it couldn't be helped. McDonald's is the food of the gods after all. At McDonald's, we meet up with Jaice and the Jaice crew and buy our food. I buy what I normally get. Cameron gets McNuggets again.
Nothing of interest occurs at the McDonald's, so we go back to the hotel to play some Smash.
Rhyno and the other Victorians come over and they play some Smash with the Jaice crew. I wasn't really watching because most of the Smash action happened in the second room. Googers then goes and beats all of the other QLD players at Smash randomly. I hadn't played him at the time, so I did. And I lost repeatedly.
"Do you know why you're losing, Aero?" Cameron says with a grin. "It's because you're not up smashing out of shield when he side B's you!"
I suddenly feel violently aggressive towards Cameron.
I keep losing to Googers while he mildly trash talks me.
I continue to lose.
"Are... Are you okay Aero?" Rhyno says. "Your face is bright red."
I lose even more and eventually quit. I lose control of my emotions. How was I going to get out of pools if I couldn't even beat Googers?! I tell everyone that I'm going to drown in pools the next day, but Cameron and Jezmo both reassure me that I'll be fine.
I opt instead to watch Cameron play Etrian Odyssey 2 again. I'm still mad at him but it's not like he was incorrect, so laying down next to him and watching him play a game that wasn't Smash calmed me down slightly.
Shitashi uses the toilet and creates the prologue of Fallout 6. It was unpleasant. Cameron was closest to the toilet door and begins to dry retch.
The Victorian's and the Jaice crew leave. The door to the motel room is open, and suddenly a guy appears kind of outside of it. I'm still lying down with Cameron on the single bed watching him play Etrian Odyssey, but the guy outside has gotten my attention. But not only that, we'd apparently gotten his attention too.
"What are you guys doing?"
The man was probably about 50 years old, fairly built. Solid at least for a guy that age. He seemed rather interested that we would be here just playing video games. Shitashi and Jezmo do most of the talking to him. I remain silent.
He was in South Australia for the cricket test that was happening. Jezmo seemed excited to find another cricket fan. But what astounded us even more was when he told us about his experience with video games.
"My first and favourite video game was Crash Bandicoot," he says.
I smile. It's rather out of character for older people to like video games. He continues talking and we learn that his name was Tony. It comes to a point where Tony is about to leave. I think he really enjoyed talking to us for the most part.
As he's about to exit the motel room, he says:
"Try not to ****ing keep us awake, hey?"
And with that, Tony was gone.

Time: ??:??~
The fire alarm goes off again. I sit up wearily. Neither Jezmo nor Cameron are responding to the alarm, so I lay back down and successfully fall back asleep while the fire alarm continues.
Date: 28/11/2015
Time: 8:30am~
Today's the big day. Brawl, Melee, PM and Smash 4 singles happen today. I get up and shower. I don't remember if Cameron showered. Probably not. Jezmo probably did. Or at least I hope he did.
We go and get breakfast from The Promised Land. Cameron had never been to McDonald's before 10:30 am before, so I tell him I'm ordering the pancakes. He copies me like the unoriginal person he is.
"Umm, Aero, I think you'll find they're called ' Hotcakes'," the annoying voice rings out.
We get our food and eat it. Cameron doesn't put the butter on his hotcakes, instead just dumping maple syrup over everything and missing it all in the process. To be fair, I also missed with the maple syrup, but that's not the point.
We organise a taxi, but unfortunately Maxi Taxi's are booked out. We then take a taxi to the university in North Terrace because apparently there was two universities. I don't know, I don't live in this god forsaken town.
Getting to the university, we wonder where the hell the venue is meant to be. Thankfully I have the incredibly intelligent idea of using Google Maps. Unfortunately it tries to direct us through various solid walls. We manage to skip through a building that could only be opened with a keycard or from inside. We continue our magical search for the venue, but to no avail. I call Rhyno and he directs us where to go. We see him outside the building, so we follow him up to the sixth floor.
The Rumors Cafe... It looked like a horrendously bad venue. There was no ventilation and inadequate space. We all greet the smashers we knew in the venue. It was around this time I got to see both Atyeo and Deez. Atyeo was someone who I saw briefly years ago and at that time he scared me. It was different now however; with time, people and things change. Deez on the other hand... I'd only known who he was for a few months. We got off to a bad start when I first interacted with him online, but someone said something to me which made me realise I had to be more accepting of people, regardless of how annoying they may be. Of course, Deez still held a grudge or something over it... and It was understandable.
We play some friendlies on the Smash 4 setups before moving over to the Brawl set ups. Brawl was set to start at 10 AM and I wanted to practise it a bit before I played my minimalist Snake in bracket. Cameron and I play some Brawl on a nearby TV. At first I play some Wolf, but then I decided that sodomizing Cameron (and his horrendously bad character) might be more enjoyable (for me). So I play various characters, including Dedede where I pretty much chaingrabbed him to death. That was overwhelmingly fun. I played Sheik too. I used the forward tilt lock from 30% to 90% into a tipper usmash KO. Gasps of shock from the small crowd watching us echoed through the room as people were disgusted that such a thing was possible.
I get to meet Grim Tuesday, a person I had an acquaintance with for years. He asks for a hug. "I never say no to hugs!" I respond.
While playing, Googers comes around and shows me the FRSH, so we both took turns wearing the FRSH. And by "took turns", I mean I wore it for a bit and then forcibly put it on Cameron's head. He hates wearing hats.
Cameron was never good at Brawl, although that was mainly because Bowser was a completely terrible character. That never stopped him from thinking back when the game was popular that he was better than me because he could beat my Zelda online. I don't think he realised until much later that Zelda wasn't my tournament main and that I just used her against him because I felt bad for him. I let Cameron know about this and he admitted to just being a bad Wi-Fi Warrior.
I continue to demolish him in friendlies except for the one time I used Meta Knight, that was kind of strange. I played Pokemon Trainer against him too, and it made me realise how much I missed Squirtle.
It was about 10:30 AM at this point and the Brawl bracket looked set to begin. Bump, I'll write some more tomorrow.

The Brawl bracket begins. Realistically I had no idea what I was doing but I decided to go with it anyway. I pick Snake. I had theorized months ago that if a Brawl tournament happened then I could probably abuse my minimalist Snake. Moves that were easily dealt with when people played competitively had degraded into gatekeepers.
Cameron plays Deez. I didn't watch the game because why would I do that. Cameron wins 2-0. Lucario isn't that strong in Brawl.
I play my first opponent. It's a Pikachu. I start the game off by forward tilting him from a quarter of the stage away. The move leads into the second hit, for a total of 21%.
"Frame 4," I think to myself.
The Pikachu attempts to chaingrab me. That was lame but he couldn't time it properly so my frame 1 grenades saved me. I up tilt the Pikachu from half the stage away and KO him at 90%. I feel skillful. I win 2-0.
Luckily Splice hadn't shown up to the tournament. I don't think either Cameron or I would have beaten Splice, and it just so happened that it made us play in the tournament. This pleases me greatly at the time. Cameron had told me not to "play a faggot character". I assumed he meant that I shouldn't play my patented Minimalist Snake™, or Squirtle, or Sheik, or Dedede or... any of the plethora of other characters I played in friendlies. So I decided to play Wolf.
We start the set. I was going to thoroughly enjoy this.
We play and it goes pretty much as I had envisioned it. He's losing. There's not much more to write about it than that. I wasn't really trying and it didn't matter if Cameron was trying or not; ultimately he was playing Bowser. He spends most of the match claw hopping around the stage. He "takes" a stock in the first game by virtue of me SD'ing and raises his arm in the air triumphantly. I win the game, of course.
We take it into the second game, where we pick Pokemon Stadium. We both SD once and I win the set.
"Faggot character," he says. Cameron then claw hops his way into losers bracket.
I play Invisi. He arrow camps me. I can't be bothered dealing with that. I lose 3-0.
Cameron plays Flex. I didn't watch him, but he wins. Cameron then plays Grim Tuesday. It's here I see that Cameron uses a move other than Side B for once and he uses neutral B. Grim Tuesday DI's into the move and takes about 78% damage. I have no idea what I'm watching, so I leave briefly to do something else. Cameron wasn't happy that I didn't watch his match. Oh well. Cameron loses to Grim Tuesday 2-1 and is knocked out of the tournament. He claw hops away from the area.
I get to play Bijou. He had previously boasted that he would win Brawl at SXC but my Minimalist Snake was here to prove him wrong. Many forward tilts and up tilts and grenades later, I had done it. I won 3-1. Bijou was a formidable opponent, and the person I had the most trouble with until then. He panic swapped to Ike for some reason but if he did what Invisi was doing and just pressed B repeatedly, he probably would have won.
Next I play Grim Tuesday. Apparently he still played Brawl, but it didn't matter. Like everyone else, he fell at the sword that was Binary Option Snake. Missed Rests and other things lead him to being forward smashed and up tilted. I think Atyeo was watching and was probably disgusted at me disgracing his character, but it didn't matter to me. Somehow I was guaranteed 3rd place.
I get to play Invisi again, aka B Button, the player. Atyeo coaches me DURING the games. I was surprised, although I didn't care, I was busy forward tilting. Atyeo tells me how to Mortar Slide with Snake, and I pulled it off at least once. Cheers and applause rang through the Cafe as people saw I did something that took at least some remote amount of skill. Or so I had imagined anyway.
I lose 3-0. I was glad that was over and done with.

I just remember realising during that last set how to shield and being very proud of it.
