I usually try to jump over his projectiles towards him and use a disjointed spacing move that he can't easily punish with his sword or grab.
My other main is Yoshi. I have a pocket Diddy for stages where he is broken af i.e. Tomodachi Life or Delfino.
Are ur other mains yoshi and diddy maribro? Also with link u could try short hopping a bit more to avoid his projectiles?

Villager doesn't need a recovery. Offstage is basically just the stage for them.
Yes, other characters have recoveries. For Villager, it's called "stage control."
You have platforms for dash attacks and bowling balls, and the stage screws up other character's recoveries. :)
