General competitive Super Smash Bros thread

Looks like Wario has grab release problems again, especially against Little Mac.

i'm wondering how people are finding the new ledge mechanics in this? i think it's kinda cool to know that i'll almost always get back, and the fact that you dont keep invincibility if keep offstage for ages means it doesn't feel like it'll end up like metaknight or pit camping off the edge forever.

i find it quite fun to chase offstage but it's not like you can stay there now for too long

I dig the aerial game that'll come of the buffed recoveries and bigger blast zones. It always feels so much more intense chasing the kill well off of the stage. Haven't played it though but in theory sounds fun to me =P

Off the edge with megaman is fuuuuuun. Still learning new ledge mechanics but cant say I dislike them.

played for about 8-10 hours with jei and viva yesterday lol. anyway, my initial impressions.
i played dedede most of the time and he feels incredibly clunky. most of his good aspects from brawl have been nerfed (throws, grab range, bair...) and not much has replaced it. gordos seemed initially promising but can be easily deflected by other characters so need to be very carefully when using them; still a powerful tool though. was also nice not to have a useless jab anymore. a lot of characters' jabs feel like very low risk/high reward options though... anyway the main killer seems to be his poor air game, lack of mobility combined with a bair/fair/dair that are slow with meh hitboxes is depressing.

we looked up the initial japanese tier list (lol) and saw sheik was really high, from experience playing against jei this seems fair enough, moveset seems really intuitive and seems to have regained some of her luster from melee. viva plays a mean mac. dude seems to thrive on restrictive stagelists.

the rules we were running: two stock 5 mins. we were thinking fd bf and yoshi's starters, prism tower counterpick as well as maybe some of the less bad stages (arena ferox maybe? most stages seem pretty bleh... it's as if making FD mode for every stage meant they could make the actual stages stupider). might throw some of the FD clones into counterpicks, are they different in any way? stage size/blastzone size etc. otherwise will just choose the ones with the best music :P

* bowser can just ignore some projectiles now
* dededes upb now has a hitbox on the way up
* lucarios upb can hurt you
* watch your shield more v DK
* pits dair can spike now
* SHEIK CANNOT USE SIDE B AS A TETHER ANY MORE OMG
* just because charizard is on the other side of FD doesn't mean your safe

I don't own a copy of the game atm. But I plan too once the new 3ds comes out. I just can't play without a cstick.
