It may not be as good of a venue, though I prefer it's location over UQ's, PW is one I would always trust to run both smoothly, and professionally. PW's tends to have TO's who are more familiar with QLD's Smash scene, and even when all this hype for SM4SH dies down, it will continue to run and will most likely be the preferred choice for those who normally stick around in the later years of SM4SH.

I'm not sure where you are coming from about tradition of PW due to never having played it in brawl.

But the air conditioning and space is a big factor for a comfortable tournament. I also believe that LEF has been looking at a lot of sources saying 2 stock vs 3 stock timings ect and has done an excellent job so far. Keep up the good work.

All he's saying is that PW has been running for a while and is yet to be seen whether or not UQ Smash will continue running if numbers drop at all.

Also I believe that if 3 stocks had been run at the last UQ I'm not sure it would have finished on time.

The bracket was held up for a very long time due to one or two players getting lunch, and players participating in other events for well over an hour.

I don't see how 3-stock doesn't work. The games, at this stage in the metagame, are significantly quicker than Brawl, and we managed 3-stock in that game with no problem. The only games that go even close to going to time are Kaions, and it's only happened a few times.

The only information which I feel is important right now is that QLD SM4SH players have two regular tournament events to attend. They can choose to go to PLAY Warehouse, UQ, both or none. It's not really important which one is better, because both events help bring players to the other and it's not a battle of events. LEF does a great job of UQ imo, Blade is just a bit rude as we all know.

Regarding 2 stock v 3 stock

This is limited sample size so doesn't prove anything really, but I'm not seeing a drastic increase in the amount of time taken to run 3 stock. More research needs to be done here really though.

From what I understand, the reasons for 2 stock are mainly:
* for people who watch streams who find 3 stock boring
* organisationally to make things run faster

The first point doesn't affect QLD, and imo there are other things such as lunch and attending multiple games which affect the timing of brackets more than the stock count.

There's also the fact that games feel like whoever takes the first stock wins, The metagame is at the point where it's good to experiment with different rulesets, but from what I can see the majority of players seem to want 3 stock matches to allow for things like comebacks.

I mean I understand where you guys are coming from but if at this stage events are running close to time and there are also lots a people entering multiple events I don't know if it would be worth risking running 3 stock. I don't know if a major is the place to be experimenting with rulesets

Also I would personally like if there was an extra hour of breathing room to run events as a TO because having to be 100% on top of everything just to make it meet the time is super stressful.

Can I ask why you prefer it? In my experience, it's make the first stock even more important than it already is.

I know Aero's preference for 2-stock is just total bias :P He says he does better in 2-stock.

I prefer 3 stock, I constantly go through the come backs, that last stock always feels like the time to do it.

I have no problems with being rude, I much prefer it then pretending to be nice.

3 Stock 10 minutes just feels like it promotes camping honestly for me. I do like the flow of 2 stock 7 minutes better. I know that people say if you loose your first stock it prevents comebacks, but honestly you shouldn't be losing your stock anyway imo. :P

But yeah all what I think anyway.

Well since it sounds like everyone is boycotting the ButtonSmash tournament, I'll probably just wait for the next monthly in March and might go then. Or wait until the next Major tournament or something. Was keen to come up in summer though so I could go to the beach or something but oh well XD
