Smash Bros-themed Mafia | game over, town wins! page 13

"In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role.

The game has two phases. Usually the first is Night. During Night, the Town can not communicate, but the Mafia can discuss and choose someone to murder. After the Moderator has received the name of the victim, the Moderator reveals the dead player, and Day begins.

During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it is once again Night.

The game alternates between Night and Day until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else."

Rules:
1. Unless your role specifically states otherwise, no communication about the game takes place outside of this thread. This includes both players and non-players.
2. No quoting or partial quoting mod PMs, or faking a quoted mod PM in this thread.
3. Editing posts is not allowed. Double-post if need be. (I can tell the difference).
4. Make your votes clear and easy to see. VOTE: Boozer is good.
You may change your vote, vote for no lynch and unvote as needed.
5. Lynching occurs once a majority has been reached.
6. If no majority has been reached, the player with the most votes is lynched. If there are players with equal votes, the lynchee is random.
7. Thread will be locked during the night phase until the next day phase.
8. Dead players cannot post in this thread, and can no longer communicate privately if their role dictates they can.

Days have a deadline of two weeks. Nights have a deadline of 72 hours.
Inactive players will be given notice after 72 hours. If this happens several times over the course of the game the player will be removed from the game.

I've got some interesting ideas for this one. Might take a while to write up so be patient :3

It's possible. Maribro has been making notably more scummy mistakes this game rather than last. And the fact that he didn't reveal his character and said to do it via meme was kinda weird. I've never seen or heard of a power role like his but I haven't played much mafia so idk. Tbh if he is town he's probably the biggest mafia target as of now proposing something like that and seeming to take lead of the town today.

The role exists, I'm not sure how much I would believe him about it though. You guys obviously didn't do enough research on the wikipedia but that doesn't guarantee Maribro has it or not.

TBQH I'm pretty pissed that deez is the least active member the entire time this threads been up. Would be more than happy to lynch him if we don't feel confident with anyone else.

Largely, I just want to know if Invisi was saved last night or if he's the doctor, being able to strike him off my list of suspects would allow me to hone in on the mafia much more easily. I don't think it's as bad a play as you all seem to think it is tbh. Anyway, I implore that the Doc save me tonight as doing so will allow me to keep my saving power and my killing one. The person who was potentially lynched last night could just be a Villager so unless evidence points to the contrary, I'm probably a better target for your powers tonight than anyone else.

either you are a really bad mafia, or you are overestimating your power role by a ridiculous amount, and are making me think you should die, and if you actually are a townie then you making me want to lynch you is not good.

Well unless you have your reasons hidden between the lines then I did address them. I'll break it down for you.

Like I said, if the doctor has any common sense, he'll come forward if a fake crops up. It's risky for the mafia to plant a fake because the fake will definitely die. If it was such a good idea to plant a fake, wouldn't they have already done so?

Those were your only points and I addressed those so idk what you want me to talk about? I probably am overestimating my power role but a night kill and a save isn't anything to waste by lynching me.

The reason I'm pushing this play is it could tear the mafia apart and we can have this game wrapped up quickly with a town victory. I've already posted about the likely linkages laggy had and why those people were more likely to be mafia than not.

Currently I believe these people to be definitely town:

Atyeo - has fought viciously as a pro town
Aero - has been supportive of the town on the whole and I feel as though he is a friend.
Urisk - seems to be pro town in a strong way without resorting to insults like Luke.
cAKE - I have already stated my reasons for believing cAKE is innocent
Wooy - was the second to vote for Laggy with low evidence. Again, this would be stupid play to risk losing the tracker
LEF - was the first to vote for laggy with no evidence. If he was mafia, this would be incredibly stupid
Maribro - applied pressure in a substantial way to Laggy when needed.
Pazx - brought lots of attention to Laggy and was the main catalyst towards getting him lynched

Which leaves

Deez - really, really quiet. Would be a good lynch no matter what as he doesn't seem to be providing much to the game at large
Barry - very quiet but otherwise hasn't been suspicious. Has posted when prompted.
Hydro - there's no evidence as to what role Hydro plays. Has posted very little with any substance but at least he is contributing unlike Deez
Invisi - Been much quieter than last game but not to a suspicious level yet. Would like to keep an eye on him for now
Corvid - Has largely been quiet like last game, not much else to point out really but hasn't been active enough to clear himself
Windkeeper - Probably a townie but I haven't seen enough to be convinced as of yet
JLo - Like windkeeper, probably a townie, but I want to see more before I believe it

If I have any way of narrowing that number down then I'd like to take whatever risk is necessary so that we can destroy the scum.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go with Atyeo on this one. Tha plan just has too many holes through it. You say if the real doctor had any "common sense" then he would speak up by now. LOL NO. How does he know that you're not just a Mafia who's pissed off, bluffing about your power, trying to kill the doctor and finding out power roles?

But what if there's just ONE of them who we don't know? If he's Mafia, then we just put a lot of trust into a scum you'll waste your protect on him at night. Its the same if he's town. No I said that if the doctor had any common sense he'd speak up if he saw a fake. I said that if a fake was such a god like option then the mafia would have done it by now.

I feel like we've discussed this enough by now though. I'm not going to encourage this any further. I just wanted people to know where I was coming from. Your night save is only beneficial if the doctor comes out, we don't need to waste it so early. Your night kill, were it to be used in your so called "Double doctor play" could be accomplished by us simply killing the other doctor during the date. And also it doesn't actually let us know who the real doctor is. The mafia just get the ability to kill any random player during the night. your play is less 10/10 town and more 10/10 mafia with every word you say.

Hey all! Sorry for being quiet - by the time I got home last night Laggy had been killed, and then I had a tournament all day today - I only just got home from church about an hour ago (it took me a while to catch up on this thread as I was doing other things also).

Day/Night 1 went amazingly - we lynched a mafia and haven't lost a townie yet. Shoutouts to Laggy for handing himself in XD. I do want to point out that the reason I unvoted him was because when I left last night he was at l-2 and a number of people were suggesting we give the discussion more time to play out, which I felt was a reasonable idea. I did say he was probably our best bet for a lynch, which turned out to be true.

I want to quickly highlight something important that no one else has as yet. With Day/Night 1 going as well as they did, we now outnumber the mafia by anywhere between 3:1 and 5:1. As such, we should be trying to aggressively force the remaining mafia out of hiding. I'd even say that trading a power role for another mafia member is probably in our favour at this point.

I should probably also address the main talking point of the moment - the doctor. Maribro's gone for an interesting play, and due to the large risk involved I'm inclined to believe for now that he's telling the truth. As he suggested and from what I've said above, I honestly think that trading the doctor for another mafia is in our favour if we can pull it off. However, I'm skeptical as to whether his plan would actually work, there's nothing in there that stops the mafia continuing to lurk in the shadows.

By the way, given our numbers advantage and how little information we currently have, perhaps once again lynching bad town could be a decent backup strategy. Perhaps we'll get lucky again like yesterday =)

We are doing really well at this stage in the game. We can afford to be aggressive and if we lose someone it doesn't really matter.

basing your plan on the logic 'there's no wake a fake doctor would come forward because he'd just die' doesn't make any sense, how would he 'just die' and your other grand idea 'if a fake doctor spoke up the real doctor could come forth and we'd know that the fake was a fake' doesn't really work either, lets say 2 people claim to be the doctor, how are you going to know which one is the fake genius?

And on that note, invisi, explain to me how a doctor revealing himself and then getting killed would give us any information on who killed the doctor, or just any info on who is a mafia in general? How would we trade a power role for a mafia?

I think you guys are tunnel visioning way too much, you are making plans on super rocky foundations without seeming to realizing how not safe those foundations are.
There are any number of ways these plans could go, not just the way you assume they'll go.

Also, this thought came to me and I dont really think we should chase it right now, but IF aero is a mafia and his way of making sure no one suspects him is to just constantly flatter the players who are doing things and by being really friendly and supportive and saying things like 'I'm glad we listened to Atyeo'
Then I want it on record that if this is indeed true, its a fucking genius play.

Also, if I am indeed correct and revealing the doctor is a terrible play, and IF maribro is a mafia and is fishing for a doctor kill, then that would make invisi a pretty likely mafia since he is completely backing up this crazy play.

Someone just seemingly jumping up out of nowhere to support another player is supposed to be a good indication of mafia from what little I read on how to play mafia.

My point was that this is the exact flaw in Maribro's plan.

Like, Maribro's plan has logic behind it, he was like "Oh we can trade the doctor for another mafia!" Which is a good play if it would work. The problem is that it probably wouldn't work.

The one who saved the townie last night would say and the other (if he's town) wouldn't object because that would be going against the town.
