Smash Bros-themed Mafia | game over, town wins! page 11

"In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.

At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while (in the basic game) everyone else will only know their own role.

The game has two phases. Usually the first is Night. During Night, the Town can not communicate, but the Mafia can discuss and choose someone to murder. After the Moderator has received the name of the victim, the Moderator reveals the dead player, and Day begins.

During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it is once again Night.

The game alternates between Night and Day until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else."

Rules:
1. Unless your role specifically states otherwise, no communication about the game takes place outside of this thread. This includes both players and non-players.
2. No quoting or partial quoting mod PMs, or faking a quoted mod PM in this thread.
3. Editing posts is not allowed. Double-post if need be. (I can tell the difference).
4. Make your votes clear and easy to see. VOTE: Boozer is good.
You may change your vote, vote for no lynch and unvote as needed.
5. Lynching occurs once a majority has been reached.
6. If no majority has been reached, the player with the most votes is lynched. If there are players with equal votes, the lynchee is random.
7. Thread will be locked during the night phase until the next day phase.
8. Dead players cannot post in this thread, and can no longer communicate privately if their role dictates they can.

Days have a deadline of two weeks. Nights have a deadline of 72 hours.
Inactive players will be given notice after 72 hours. If this happens several times over the course of the game the player will be removed from the game.

I've got some interesting ideas for this one. Might take a while to write up so be patient :3
Capping this one at 15-20 players. Can start earlier if that number is not reached.

By encouraging the doctor to reveal who they are and who they saved, I can hopefully cut down my list of potential mafia groups to a more reasonable number. I can protect the doctor with my power and the doctor can protect me with his, forcing the mafia to kill a less vital member of the town group. The doctor revealing themselves is pivotal for us to grasp a better understanding of the game at large and for us to take down the mafia. Revealing is nothing but a 10/10 play.

I'm more interested in what smash character you are.
Anyway, I believe Maribro is at least 65% pro-town. The constant bothering of the doctor is a little bit suspicious, but I understand he has good intentions.

Die I guess. There's a doctor out there and if they're smart they will protect me even if they don't reveal themselves. This play was a huge gamble to try and get some evidence out. Hopefully the doc is smart and pays me back by saving me and revealing some info so that we can kill some mafia.

As i feared your power is not as useful as it could have been. An unfortunate reality that the mafia can now use to bait the doctor or at least throw shade on them. Im sorry maribro but i would prefer the doctor to not reveal themselves right now. Perhaps you will live through the night and perhaps not. As it stands the doctor should keep quite to protect themselves.

This is just gonna leave this lynch somewhat random and with low evidence and me having made a very high risk play for nothing. The doctor has the power to educate us all about who is and isn't mafia.

If the mafia target the doctor, so be it. I will protect them and by the time they have an opportunity to kill the doctor their number should hopefully be a lot lower than it is now.

Also, Urisk, there's no point lynching me so please change your vote and actually think about who is mafia.

It creates a mutex lock on the thread. Stopping mafia from quickly bandwagoning someone. It also enforces more time to look at someones voting process, ensures that the thread is updated incase they gave more information. If you're a town person it should increase the safety of your votes and prevent you from accidentally double voting with someone which may result in a lynch and increase visibility of you being mafia.

It also gives time for people to unvote in l-1 or 2 situations.

The Doctor won't die next night phase because I'm going to save him. The knowledge we'd gain from revealing who it is would be seriously vital.

If we don't know who the doctor is, what if we lynch him?
What if the mafia takes a lucky guess and kills him? Idk who it is so I can't save him

If we know who he is, he will be alive for at least one more phase. With my night kill handy it could be enough to end the mafia in a fairly short period of time.

Unfortunatley, I wouldn't risk this play as it isn't exactly "10/10" or foolproof. But if it goes right, Yay for us!

How do you know who is mafia? Also we have to kill 3 mafia within and again they can just not target the doctor or you. All your suggestion does is negate both of your abilities in your protection circle jerk. Perhaps we do lynch the doctor by accident but they way they have played thus far seems to suggest they are smart or at least lucky and as such that seems unlikely.

A scum could do that but then the real doctor would see this and think "I should come forward" and then it'd be a toss up. Either way, a mafia will die from this play. We lynch the doctor? I take out the fake at night. We lynch the scum? One less to worry about.

They could target someone else, sure but then we have gained the knowledge of two definite innocents for the loss of one villager. Without gaining this knowledge then we could lose 2 villagers (possibly power roles too) for the gain of… nothing.

That does not prove your innocence, could also result in the loss of a power role and definitely shuts off 2 power roles for an undetermined about of rounds (until you guys die?)

It sounded like his main ability is as a tracker and then he has the special power to kill and save. He suggested he had to pre emptively choose who to save so I wonder if the same applies for killing, and if that is the case who did he pick to save/kill on night one even if he didn't go through with it?

We dont have much information cause we dont know who the docor saved and its not worth accidentally killing the doctor knowing that they played smart and saved somebody, they seem too valuable to risk.

Like I said my vote for Maribro was a soft one and it does seem to have made him crack a fair bit. I'm leaving my vote on cause we have no one better to go for right now. Also please utilize the mutex lock.
